Harvard Square Residence
Cambridge, Massachusetts

Located in historic Harvard Square, this 2700 square foot apartment has spectacular views of the Charles River. The clients, both writers and art collectors, requested “open and loft-like” spaces in which to live and work as well as “museum quality” lighting for their collection of paintings and sculptures.

With few interior walls, the design utilizes a strategic placement of built-in furniture and display niches to create flowing spaces punctuated by art work and free-standing furniture groupings.

The interior finishes include natural slate flooring, ash wood built-in cabinets with honed slate counters and full height translucent window shades. Colorful “venetian plaster” accent walls are used to further soften the transition between spaces.
