Beacon Hill Residence
Boston, Massachusetts

Located within the Beacon Hill neighborhood of central Boston, this project involved combining two small penthouse apartments into one large living space overlooking the Boston Common. The design solution emphasizes, and often defers to, the client's collections of art, contemporary furniture and early Twentieth Century antiques. Using the collection as a design catalyst, the main living spaces are arranged along a line of interlocking figures, ranging from public to private, allowing simultaneous viewing of the artwork. A sculptural maple and steel stairwell spirals vertically through the central skylight and provides access to the roof garden.
